Bark River DLT Bushcrafter

Having finally had the chance to test the Bark River DLT Bushcrafter all we can say is "wow"! Mike and crew knocked this one out of the park. When DLT Trading commissioned Bark River to build this model we had an idea to build the best bushcraft knife on the market regardless of cost, time to build, or other considerations.

Team BRKT delivered with flying colors and the end product has exceeded our expectations. By utilizing a convex Scandi grind the Bushcrafter has better edge retention and toughness than traditional Scandi grind knives. The edge geometry allows for cutting and chopping North American hardwoods with ease. Traditional Scandinavian knives were designed to cut and chop primarily conifers and birch both of which are much easier to work than the hardwoods here in the US. As such, the traditional Scandi grind worked extremely well and provided a razor sharp edge for outdoor tasks. The improved convex Scandi takes the best of both edges and provides a superior outdoor knife.

By utilized CPM 3V, a super steel, hardness can be taken to 60 HRC with a thickness of only .145" and still have super toughness traditionally only found in softer, thicker edges. This knife will chop, slice, baton, cut, skin, or any other task you might try with it. Knife enthusiasts love variety and who would only want one knife for the outdoors? Not this writer.

If I could only choose one fixed blade to take with me into the outdoors the Bark River DLT Bushcrafter would be a great place to start.

Bark River Little Caper

The Bark River Little Caper is a knife that popped up on the production schedule without a lot of fan fare. Personally, I am not generally a huge fan of trailing points but I will say this: this knife rocks!

Making a fantastic knife for caping or fine detail work the Little Caper also would make an excellent EDC knife. Like all Bark River knives the LC is convex ground to razor edge and is made of durable A2 tool steel heat treated to perfection by master knifemaker, Mike Stewart.

Bark River NorthStar Companion

The Bark River NorthStar Companion was recently introduced by the folks at BRKT and it is definitely a winner! In our honest opinion it is a better knife than the Mini North Star. It is thicker, has a better blade shape and just feel better in your hand.

Whether you use your Bark River Northstar Companion as a field knife, everyday carry or for bushcraft you will surely love this moderate sized, American made beauty. Like al BRKT knives it is covered by a full lifetime warranty and includes a deluxe leather sheath.

Wenger RangerGrip Pategonian Expedition

Today, we were able to field test the new Wenger RangerGrip Pategonian Expedition . Durable and easy to use as all the Wenger RangerGrip seris is, the Pategonian Expedition has unique laser marking on the rubber inserts in it's ergonomic handle. Hi visibily yellow will help to reduce the risk of misplacing the knife (oh and it looks super-cool also!) An easy-to-use push button release cleverly hidden in the Swiss Army shield allows the knife to be closed in a snap.

A great knife, from a great company at a great price - what more can we say? Don't hesitate this commemorative knife will not last forever!
